About Us

TheSkillVault is a free library of practical guides on careers, study and the everyday skills that help people get on at work and in life.

Why we started

Most of us pick up the skills that matter in bits and pieces. How to write a cover letter that gets read, how to prepare for an entrance exam, how to ask for a raise without making it awkward. A tip from a friend here, a forum thread there. We wanted one place where those answers are written down properly, in plain language, and kept up to date.

What you'll find here

We've published more than 13,000 guides so far. They're grouped into five topics:

  • Skills Lab covers hands-on skills, from writing and presenting to the tests and applications that come before a career starts.
  • Learning explains languages, science, history and study methods from the ground up.
  • Worklife deals with jobs, salaries, workplaces and the paperwork that comes with them.
  • Mindset is about confidence, motivation and the habits behind steady progress.
  • Productivity looks at tools and routines that save time without wearing you out.

Everything sits under Career Advice, our main section, so that's a good place to browse if you're not sure where to start.

How we write

A guide should be useful the first time you read it. So we get to the point, explain terms when we use them, and link to the sources we relied on so you can check them yourself. That's why many of our articles end with a list of references.

We also go back to older articles. Salary figures, exam rules and application deadlines change every year, and a guide that was right two years ago can quietly go wrong. When we update a piece, the date at the top changes to show it.

How we research, edit and correct our work, including how we use AI tools, is set out in our Editorial Policy.

Who's behind TheSkillVault

TheSkillVault is published by MomJunction Private Limited, an online publisher based in Hyderabad, India. Our editors come from backgrounds in applied linguistics, education and research-based writing, and every article carries the name of the person responsible for it.

What we're not

We're not a recruitment agency, an admissions consultancy or a replacement for professional advice. Our guides are general information. For decisions about your own career, money, health or legal situation, talk to someone qualified who knows your circumstances.
