Cookie Policy
This page explains what cookies are, how TheSkillVault uses them, and how you can control them. Please read it together with our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. They let a site remember things from one page or visit to the next, and they help site owners and advertisers understand how a site is used. Similar technologies, like tracking pixels and your browser's local storage, do much the same job, and we treat them the same way in this policy.
The cookies we use
Essential
These are needed for the site to work and stay secure, for example to protect it against spam and abuse. They don't follow you around other websites, and they can't be switched off in our systems.
Preferences
These remember choices you make. If you switch TheSkillVault to dark mode, for instance, your browser saves that choice so the site looks the way you left it next time. The setting stays on your device and isn't sent to us.
Analytics
These help us count visits and see which pages are read, where readers come from and how they move around the site. We look at the results as a whole to decide what to write next and what to improve.
Advertising
These are set by ad networks such as Google. They're used to show ads, stop you seeing the same ad over and over, measure how ads perform and, where allowed, show ads based on your interests. The networks that set these cookies control them, under their own privacy policies.
Cookies set by other companies
Some cookies on our pages come from other companies, for example when an article includes an embedded video or an ad network shows an ad. We don't control these cookies, so for details please check with the company concerned. For Google, see how Google uses cookies in advertising.
Managing cookies
- In your browser. Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies from their settings. If you block every cookie, some parts of the site may not work properly.
- Personalised ads. You can turn off personalised Google ads in My Ad Center, and opt out of many other ad networks at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
- Analytics. Google's opt-out browser add-on stops Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits.
Where the law requires your consent for non-essential cookies, we'll ask for it, and you can change your mind at any time.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows the current version.
